Stevia is a zero-calorie sweetener. It is derived from the plant Stevia Rebaudiana. The stevia used in LILY'S chocolate is a stevia extract. Please be assured that the stevia extract used in the LILY'S product line complies with all applicable regulations.
Erythritol is often used as an alternative to sugar. It contains virtually no calories and has a zero glycemic index. It does not affect blood sugar or insulin levels, making it a suitable sugar substitute for diabetics. Our erythritol is sourced from a supplier that has strict Non-GMO policies in place for both its production processes and its raw material suppliers.
Isomalt is a sugar substitute that is derived from sugar beets. Our Isomalt is derived from Non-GMO sugar beets in Europe.
Inulin is a soluble plant fiber. The inulin used in LILY'S Sweets is derived from chicory root.
For almost a decade, Lily’s has used Dextrin/ Soluble Corn Fiber. We updated the ingredient name Dextrin to Soluble Corn Fiber, which is the more common industry name for the ingredient.
LILY'S products do not contain maltitol, maltodextrin, or dextrose. Maltitol, maltodextrin and dextrose are sweeteners with high glycemic indexes, but are different from the dextrin fiber used in LILY'S products.
Yes, all dairy products in LILY'S are rBST-free.
Allulose is a monosaccharide, a simple sugar, so it tastes sweet. Allulose has approximately one-tenth the calories of regular sugar.
Researchers find allulose has little impact on blood glucose levels. While some allulose is absorbed, it is not metabolized or broken down in the body.
According to the FDA, allulose does not need to be listed under total sugars or added sugars, although it must be labeled as a carbohydrate since it is classified as such.
Allulose can be found in very small quantities in raisins, figs, maple syrup, & jackfruit. The allulose we source is made from corn.
Allulose is a low-calorie sweetener. It tastes sweet but doesn’t act like sugar in your body. Because allulose isn’t metabolized or broken down by the body, you subtract it, along with fiber, to calculate the net carbs per bag. Allulose is only in our Gummy Bears & Sour Gummy Worms.
Cynthia and Chuck, LILY'S founders, named LILY'S Sweets after Chuck’s niece, Lily, an inspired – and inspiring — young lady and childhood brain cancer survivor. When Lily was seven years old, she was diagnosed with brain cancer. Doctors operated successfully, but the surgery to remove her tumor left her with some immobility. Lily spent months learning to walk again. Since being diagnosed, Lily has been raising money for other kids battling cancer. She is now in her teenage years, has celebrated her 5-year anniversary of diagnosis and remains cancer-free and dedicated to helping others in need.
Based on consumer feedback, we learned that users felt our chocolate could improve from an overall taste liking standpoint. With that in mind, we developed a new recipe to keep Lily’s values and quality ingredients, while addressing three improvement areas: bitterness, off sweet notes & dryness.
We can't wait for you to try the new rich and creamy recipe!
We explored dozens of new recipes, and through taste tests amongst current Lily’s consumers, the new 36% recipe was significantly favored vs. versions with 40% cacao.
The cocoa used in LILY'S products is not treated with alkali.
While many of our customers find that LILY'S fits into their low carb, or keto diet, everyone’s body handles ketosis differently.
The nutrition facts panel that all manufacturers provide on the package contains information about total carbohydrates, which is defined as the sum of sugars, fiber, and sugar alcohols. Erythritol & Isomalt is a type of sugar alcohol. Total carbohydrates is different than net carbohydrates, which is generally calculated by subtracting fiber plus sugar alcohols from total carbohydrates.
Allulose tastes sweet and functions like sugar in foods such as baked goods, ice cream, and candy. It even freezes like sugar!
LILY'S Baking Bars and Baking Chips are both formulated for baking and can be melted for enrobing or drizzling chocolate. When melting either the baking bar or the baking chips, the most important thing is to ensure the chocolate evenly melts and no part of it burns. If the chocolate burns it will start to clump up, and there is really no way to smooth it out after that happens. We find it’s best to break up our Baking Bars or use our Baking Chips and heat them over a double boiler over simmering (not boiling) water. Stir the chocolate constantly until totally melted, it only takes a few minutes, and the chocolate turns out perfectly smooth and shiny. If any clumping begins to occur, sometimes adding a bit of coconut oil will help.
